EDL-Generation agrees to purchase electricity from Nam Neun

KPL (KPL) EDL-Generation Public Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the purchase of electricity from the Nam Neun I hydropower plant with three local concession companies.

(KPL) EDL-Generation Public Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the purchase of electricity from the Nam Neun I hydropower plant with three local concession companies.

The concessionaires are the Vangsub Development and Investment Co., the THB Group Sole Co Ltd, and the Khongsub Bridge Construction and Engineering Company.

The Nam Neun I hydropower plant is located in Xieng Khuang Province and has an installed capacity of 124 MW.  It is an investment of about US$300 million.

The 570 Gwh per year of electricity will be sold to the EDL-Generation Public Company.

The project is expected to begin producing electricity by 2023.

The signing ceremony for the tariff was held in Vientiane Capital last Saturday between Deputy Director of the EDL-Generation Public Company, Mr Bounma Manyvong, President of the Vangsub Development and Investment Company, Mrs Viengvanh Phommary, the President of THB Group Sole Co Ltd, Mr Tong Homsombath and Director of the Khongsub Bridge Construction and Engineering Company, Mr Sounthone Sabandith.

The event was witnessed by Minister of Energy and Mines Mr Khammany Inthilath and relevant officials.
