Large crowds gathered at Tha Wat Chan in Chanthabouly District, Vientiane, on the evening of October 24 ahead of the 2026 Boun Ork Phansa and Traditional Boat Racing Festival, scheduled for October 25–27.
(KPL) The annual festival marks the end of Buddhist Lent and celebrates Lao cultural traditions passed down through generations. It also provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy traditional festivities and support local businesses.
The festival features numerous vendor stalls offering a variety of goods, including One District One Product (ODOP) items. Among the popular attractions this year are stalls selling khao lam (sticky rice cooked in bamboo tubes) and ping kai (grilled chicken), traditional foods commonly enjoyed during Lao festivals.
Visitors are encouraged to remain vigilant and take care of their personal safety, particularly those attending with young children, older people or persons with disabilities. Festivalgoers are also urged to keep the area clean and help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment throughout the celebrations.
