On August 27, 2026, at around 10:00 a.m., a special task force from the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Mobile Police Command, General Department of Intelligence and Target Protection Police Command, raided two hotel locations in Hadxayfong District, Vientiane Capital, as part of a crackdown on internet crime and online gambling.

(KPL) On August 27, 2026, at around 10:00 a.m., a special task force from the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Mobile Police Command, General Department of Intelligence and Target Protection Police Command, raided two hotel locations in Hadxayfong District, Vientiane Capital, as part of a crackdown on internet crime and online gambling.
At the first location, Grandphook Hotel in Dongphosy Village, Long Thanh Special Economic Zone, authorities detained 62 suspects, including 10 women, from three nationalities. The group comprised 44 Chinese nationals, 12 Vietnamese nationals, including seven women, and six Thai nationals, including three women.
Authorities seized 98 desktop computers, 24 laptops, 322 mobile phones, 45 iPads and 60 SIM cards from the premises.
At the second location, Pani Hotel in Dongkhamsang Village, officers detained six suspects, comprising five Chinese nationals and one Thai national. One laptop and 18 mobile phones were also confiscated.
Authorities are currently questioning the suspects as part of an expanded investigation aimed at identifying the organizers and other individuals involved in the operations.
Law enforcement agencies said all those found to have violated the law will face prosecution in accordance with Lao law.
