Government bodies, diplomatic missions, organizations and other sectors continued to pay their respects to Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane by laying wreaths and signing condolence books following his death on August 8.

On Tuesday, representatives from embassies accredited to Laos, Party committees, People’s Councils, provincial administrations, organizations, institutions, banks, associations, companies and other sectors gathered to express their condolences over the passing of Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
The tributes reflected the affection, respect and deep sorrow felt following his death, as well as recognition of his contributions and dedication to the Party, the State and the Lao people.
Those paying tribute also expressed their condolences to his family and relatives, as well as to the Party, State and people of Laos, following the loss of a prominent national leader.
The continued arrival of representatives from different sectors also highlighted the bonds of solidarity and respect for Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane, while reflecting the close relations between institutions and organizations within Laos and with friendly countries that joined in mourning his passing.
The death of Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane is regarded as a significant loss for the Lao Party, State and people. Throughout his career, he devoted his efforts, knowledge and abilities to serving the nation and contributing to the country's development.
