Deputy prime ministers, ministers and senior government officials attended the meeting in person at the Prime Minister's Office, while governors and deputy governors from Vientiane and the provinces joined via videoconference.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the 12th Party Congress Resolution and the 10th National Socio-Economic Development Plan, alongside preparations to elevate rural development and poverty eradication as a national agenda.
In his opening remarks, Sonexay noted that continued geopolitical tensions, including conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as other regional security issues, remain sources of uncertainty for the global economy. He said Laos must closely monitor potential impacts, particularly rising fuel prices, exchange rate fluctuations, import costs, and natural disasters that could affect production, transport, businesses, and household livelihoods.
Over the two-day meeting, ministers will review socio-economic performance in July, discuss priorities for August, assess regional and international developments, national defence and security, and measures to address fuel-related challenges.
The Cabinet will also consider several draft laws, including legislation on deposit protection, road traffic, and military personnel of the Lao People's Army, as well as a draft resolution on developing quality human resources and proposed revisions to the list of activities regulated under the Law on Investment Promotion.
The Prime Minister urged participants to provide practical, solution-oriented recommendations to ensure effective implementation of the meeting's decisions.
