The First Extraordinary Session of the 10th National Assembly will convene from July 6–10, 2026, at the National Assembly Hall in Vientiane to consider a series of urgent legislative and national policy matters.
At a press conference on July 2, Bounchan Sivongphan, Member of the Party Central Committee, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee and Head of the National Assembly Secretariat, said the session would be held in accordance with the amended Law on the National Assembly (2024) and Resolution No. 169/NASC, adopted by the National Assembly Standing Committee on June 30, 2026.The five-day session will review the Government's report on the implementation of the National Socio-Economic Development Plan, State Budget Plan, and Monetary Plan during the first half of 2026, while setting priorities for the remainder of the year.Lawmakers will also deliberate on the proposed National Agenda on Rural Development and Poverty Reduction, as well as two pieces of legislation: the draft Law on the State Treasury and the amended Law on the State Budget.In addition, the National Assembly will consider reports and recommendations submitted by the National Assembly Standing Committee before voting on four resolutions related to the government's mid-year performance, the rural development agenda, and the adoption of the two draft laws.Bounchan Sivongphan called on civil servants, members of the armed forces, students, intellectuals, workers, the multi-ethnic Lao people nationwide, and Lao citizens living overseas to follow the proceedings of the session.To encourage public participation, the National Assembly Secretariat has established a public feedback mechanism.
