Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Party Committee Secretary of Vientiane Capital and President of the Vientiane Capital People’s Council, met with Mr. Nguyen Khac Thanh, Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Party Secretary of Nghe An Province, during an official visit to Vietnam from June 24–27.
The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, particularly between Vientiane Capital and Nghe An Province.
Mr. Atsaphangthong expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended by the Nghe An authorities and said the visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences in local administration, especially on subdistrict governance as Laos continues implementing reforms to its local administrative system.
He also briefed the Vietnamese side on recent developments in Vientiane Capital, including the outcomes of the inaugural fifth session of the Vientiane Capital People’s Council and the city’s socio-economic development priorities.
For his part, Mr. Nguyen Khac Thanh shared Nghe An Province’s experience in infrastructure development, investment promotion, revenue collection, tourism, public security and local governance reforms, including the establishment and management of subdistrict administrations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding practical cooperation and exchanging experiences to support local development and further strengthen the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
