(KPL) The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on January 5 sent a congratulatory message to the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) on the occasion of its 12th National Congress, underscoring the enduring and special bond between the two nations.

In the message, the CPV Central Committee expressed its “closest brotherly sentiments and most sincere, warmest congratulations” to the Congress, LPRP members, and the people of Laos.

It hailed the “significant, comprehensive, and historic achievements” made by Laos over the past 50 years since the founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, including 40 years of comprehensive renovation and five years implementing the resolutions of the 11th Party Congress.

The Vietnamese Party praised the LPRP’s “clear-sighted leadership,” noting that it has “continuously elevated the prestige and role of Laos on the international stage.” These successes, the message stated, confirm the correctness of the LPRP’s path and reflect the “strong revolutionary spirit and steadfastness” of the Lao people in pursuing national independence, prosperity, and happiness.

The 12th National Congress, according to the CPV, marks a new developmental phase for Laos, setting strategic directions to advance renovation, strengthen national unity, ensure socio-political stability, and promote economic growth toward socialism.

Highlighting the unique relationship between the two countries, the message recalled that Vietnam and Laos have stood “side-by-side throughout every historical period.” The CPV expressed confidence that under LPRP leadership, Laos will achieve even greater successes in implementing the resolutions of the 12th Congress.

The note particularly emphasized the “special solidarity” between Vietnam and Laos—a relationship described as a “sacred heritage” nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong.

It recalled that in 2025, both sides agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a new height under the framework of “Great Friendship, Special Solidarity, Comprehensive Cooperation, and Strategic Partnership.”

Vietnam affirmed its commitment to “do its utmost to protect and pass on this special bond to future generations” and thanked Laos for its “immense and wholehearted support” during Vietnam’s struggle for liberation and current development.

The message concluded with warm wishes for the success of the 12th National Congress and for the everlasting flourishing of the “great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership” between the two Parties, states, and peoples.
