(KPL) Vice President Pany Yathotou, led a delegation to Hadbong Village, Nonghet District, Xiengkhouang Province, on August 3, to provide humanitarian aid to residents severely affected by recent flooding.

The visit aimed to offer both moral support and practical assistance to villagers in this remote community, which was struck by flash floods on July 22. Relief supplies distributed during the visit included rice, noodles, canned fish, drinking water, clothing, and essential household items.

According to Mr. Nhom Yengya, Deputy District Party Secretary and Governor of Nonghet, the flooding damaged 34 homes, completely submerged five, and claimed one life. Several key facilities—including shops, the village office, school buildings, and teachers' housing—were also destroyed. Roads were rendered impassable, cutting off the village until waters receded. Authorities are currently working to restore access and conduct a comprehensive damage assessment.

During her visit, Vice President Yathoutou urged local authorities to ensure the fair and timely distribution of aid. She emphasized the urgent need to repair damaged infrastructure—including roads, homes, and schools—and called for special attention to the five families who lost their homes, recommending that temporary shelters be arranged without delay.

She also advised relocating at-risk riverside households to safer, elevated areas to mitigate future disasters. Furthermore, she instructed district officials to monitor public health conditions, document all losses accurately, and accelerate recovery efforts to restore normal living conditions.

Vice President Yathoutou encouraged residents to remain united, vigilant, and committed to maintaining hygiene in their homes and surroundings to prevent disease outbreaks and safeguard community well-being.
