KPL Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith met with Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, in Vientiane on Thursday, with both leaders pledging to strengthen bilateral relations and expand trade between the two regions.

The meeting capped Minnikhanov’s two-day official working visit to Laos from Nov. 4–5.
Saleumxay welcomed the Russian delegation, expressing confidence that the visit would deepen the strategic partnership between Laos and the Russian Federation while opening fresh avenues for direct economic and cultural cooperation with Tatarstan.
During the talks, both sides highlighted potential growth areas, including trade, investment, education, and cultural exchanges, aimed at building stronger direct links between local enterprises and institutions.

Tatarstan is a republic of Russia located in Eastern Europe. It is a part of the Volga Federal District; and its capital and largest city is Kazan, an important cultural centre in the Russian Federation.
