The President of the Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee has welcomed a visiting delegation from the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD), marking a continuation of long-standing cooperation between the two sides.

The delegation, led by Secretary-General Wang Heming, is on an official visit to Laos from 24 to 26 March at the invitation of the Lao committee.

During a meeting on 24 March, Committee President Sommad Pholsena expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a contribution to strengthening ties under the countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership. He highlighted the shared vision of building closer relations based on what both sides describe as the “Four Goods” principle—good neighbours, friends, comrades and partners.

The two sides reviewed cooperation dating back to 2012, which has included regular exchanges and joint development projects. According to officials, the partnership has delivered 25 primary and secondary school buildings, along with donations of educational materials and medical supplies, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the current visit, the Chinese delegation is also holding discussions with Lao authorities on the role of international non-governmental organisations and civil society groups.

The delegation is expected to attend the handover ceremony of a newly constructed primary school in Thathom district, Xaysomboun province. The project is one of five being implemented across Xaysomboun, Luang Prabang and Bokeo provinces under the 2024–2025 cooperation framework.
