(KPL/Prensa Latina) The US blockade against Cuba returns to the global gaze at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) with the debate on the draft resolution calling for lifting the longest economic blockade in history.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez leads the Cuban delegation in New York to “participate on October 28-29 in the discussion and vote on the draft General Assembly resolution, which calls for an end to the US blockade against Cuba,” he wrote on his X profile.

Rodriguez stated, “We will defend the #TruthOfCuba and the international community, which the US government is trying to manipulate and change under unprecedented pressure.”

Its corrupt political clique fears being isolated once again by the overwhelming UN majority’s condemnation of its measures to stifle the economy and suffering against the Cuban people, warned the foreign minister, who used the hashtag #TumbaElBloqueo (do away the embargo).

This will be the 33rd time that a proposal arguing for the need to end the blockade, imposed more than six decades ago by successive Democratic and Republican administrations, without distinction, will be debated.

The 193-nation forum will examine and vote the document submitted by the Caribbean nation, which argues that the worsening impact is stifling its population.

The international community has unequivocally rejected the US blockade, which found the support last year from only two countries, the United States and its ally Israel, compared to the overwhelming majority of 187 others that opposed it.

According to official data, the US blockade has caused 7.556 billion dollars in damages in the last year, representing a 49 percent increase compared to the previous period.
