(KPL) The 10th Deputy Foreign Ministers’ Political Consultation Meeting between the Lao PDR and Vietnam took place on July 8, 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vientiane.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Phongsamouth Anlavanh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, and Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam. Delegations from both countries were in attendance.
As part of an annual bilateral mechanism, the consultation provided a platform for both sides to review and deepen cooperation between their respective foreign ministries. Discussions emphasized the role of foreign affairs personnel as critical contributors to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, evaluated cooperation over the past year, and deliberated on regional and global issues of mutual concern—many of which are becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable.
The meeting laid important groundwork for the 12th Ministerial Political Consultation, scheduled to be held in Vietnam at the end of 2025. As part of preparations, both ministries agreed to continue working on the draft 2026–2030 cooperation agreement, aiming to sign it at the upcoming ministerial-level meeting.
Looking ahead, the Lao and Vietnamese foreign ministries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination, not only bilaterally but also within multilateral frameworks—including the Mekong Sub-region, ASEAN, and the United Nations.
The meeting was conducted in a spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and open dialogue, reflecting the strong ties between the two nations.
