Vice President Pany Yathotou received a farewell visit from Ms. Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Lao PDR, on June 3, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane. Ambassador Salama, based in Hanoi, Vietnam, is concluding her diplomatic mission in Laos.

(KPL) Vice President Pany Yathotou received a farewell visit from Ms. Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Lao PDR, on June 3, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane. Ambassador Salama, based in Hanoi, Vietnam, is concluding her diplomatic mission in Laos.
During the meeting, Vice President Pany warmly welcomed and congratulated Ambassador Salama on the successful completion of her tenure. She praised the ambassador’s contributions to strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Lao PDR and Egypt, noting that bilateral ties have steadily grown during her service. The Vice President also extended her best wishes for the ambassador’s future endeavors and safe return home.
Ambassador Salama expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the support and collaboration extended by Lao government agencies throughout her mission, which she credited for the success of her diplomatic work.
The Lao PDR and the Arab Republic of Egypt established diplomatic relations in 1976. While high-level exchanges have been limited in recent years, both nations have maintained friendly ties through messages of goodwill and mutual support. Egypt has contributed to human resource development in Laos, notably in 2013 when a group of Lao nationals traveled to Egypt for agricultural studies.
