(KPL) A bilateral meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Laos and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) was held on March 2, 2025, in Pyongyang, DPRK.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Mr. Phongsavanh Sisoulath, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK, Mr. Pak Sang Gil.
On this occasion, Mr. Pak Sang Gil warmly welcomed his Lao counterpart, Mr. Phongsavanh Sisoulath, and his delegation during their visit to the DPRK from March 1–4, 2025.

He expressed confidence that the visit would significantly contribute to further promoting and enhancing the traditional friendly relations between the two Parties, two states, and the peoples of Laos and the DPRK. This visit holds special significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2024 and the 60th anniversary of the first summit between President Kaysone Phomvihane, a beloved leader of the Lao people, and President Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the DPRK people, in Pyongyang in 2025.
On the same occasion, Mr. Phongsavanh Sisoulath sincerely thanked Mr. Pak Sang Gil and the relevant officials of the DPRK for their warm welcome and the excellent arrangements made for the delegation during the visit.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed and evaluated bilateral cooperation over recent years and agreed on future directions for collaboration between the two ministries. They also reaffirmed their commitment to closely coordinate and promote the implementation of previously signed agreements, as well as to organize various activities to celebrate the historical milestones of the two countries.
These efforts aim to create a vibrant and meaningful atmosphere in preparation for future high-level exchanges, further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, both sides exchanged views on prominent regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During their visit to the DPRK, Mr. Phongsavanh Sisoulath, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, and his delegation also paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Choe Son Hui, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK.
