Agriculture Minister Receives World Food Programme Representative

KPL On January 22, 2025, Mr. Linkham Duangsavanh, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, welcomed Mr. Marc Andre Prost, the country representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) to the Lao PDR, along with his delegation.

(KPL) On January 22, 2025, Mr. Linkham Duangsavanh, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, welcomed Mr. Marc Andre Prost, the country representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) to the Lao PDR, along with his delegation.

During the meeting, Minister Linkham Duangsavanh extended a warm welcome to the WFP representatives and commended the strong relationship and cooperation between the WFP and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The two sides discussed various projects supported by the WFP, including the Agriculture for Nutrition and Food Security Project for Coffee Farmers. The latter is implemented under a cooperation fund with the Japanese Economic Strengthening Unit. These initiatives align with the Ministry’s four main programs, particularly the food security program.

Minister Linkham expressed hope that the WFP would continue its valuable contributions and support to help the Ministry achieve its goals, particularly in enhancing food security.

In response, Mr. Marc Andre Prost expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the WFP’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Ministry. He emphasized the WFP’s proactive support for various programs aimed at advancing the Ministry’s development plan.

The meeting highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the WFP and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, reinforcing their shared goal of fostering sustainable agricultural development and food security in Laos.
