(KPL) Savannakhet Province plans to develop XeSalalong reservoir in Thapangthong District as a new tourist destination for tourists to the province.
The Savannakhet Information Culture and Tourism Department in cooperation with authorities of Thapangthong District went to survey and observe the site of reservoir last week to collect information and assess the possible establishment of the new tourist site.
XeSalalong reservoir has been split into eight zones; the 1st is a tourist service site, 2nd a tourist cruise port, 3rd a protected nature park, 4th an area for the sale of community products sale for tourists and a parking area, 5th a protected area with Buddha image renovation, 6th a site for organising the annual boat racing festival, 7th agricultural tourism on Don-ngoikao — an island village in the reservoir and 8th a port for tourist cruises.
The survey delegation was led by Vice Chief of Thapangthong District Khampasong Khongkham, Head of Thapangthong Information, Culture and Tourism Division Sithanonxay Silivong, local authorities and experts.
Laos is preparing to launch the “Visit Laos Year 2018” to promote the tourism industry and attract a greater inflow of foreign visitors.
