(Xinhua/KPL)  China won three athletics gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games on Sunday, while Thailand’s Puripol Boonson equaled the Asian record in the men’s 200m.

China’s Chen Yuanjiang won the men’s 110m hurdles in 13.15 seconds, followed by Japan’s Rachid Muratake and the Philippines’ John Tolentino.

In the women’s javelin, China’s Yan Ziyi secured gold with a 70.46-meter throw on her first attempt, setting a new Asian Games record. Japan’s Olympic champion Haruka Kitaguchi took silver with 62.70 meters.

China also won the women’s long jump, with Huang Yingying producing a 6.55-meter jump in her final attempt to beat India’s Ancy Sojan Edappilly by two centimeters. China’s Tan Mengyi took bronze.

Thailand’s Boonson clocked 19.88 seconds in the men’s 200m, equaling the Asian record set by China’s Xie Zhenye in 2019. China’s Huang Youwen won silver in 20.45 seconds.

Singapore’s Shanti Pereira retained her women’s 200m title in 22.78 seconds, with China’s 17-year-old Chen Yujie taking silver in 22.93 seconds.

In the men’s high jump, Chinese Taipei’s Fu Chao-hsuan cleared 2.25 meters for gold, while Japan’s Hayato Katsuki won the men’s marathon race walk.

China’s men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams also won their heats to advance to the finals.
