President Thongloun Visits Cambodia

KPL At the invitation of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, paid a state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from February 6–7, accompanied by a high-level delegation.

An official welcoming ceremony was held at the Royal Palace on February 7, followed by a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, acting on behalf of the King. President Thongloun expressed appreciation for the warm reception and conveyed greetings to the Cambodian King and Queen Mother.

The Lao President briefed the Cambodian side on Laos’ socio-economic development and praised Cambodia’s rapid progress and improved living standards.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership between Laos and Cambodia, highlighting 2026 as the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 7th anniversary of their upgraded partnership.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the visit, noting its importance in deepening bilateral ties. He confirmed that King Norodom Sihamoni will pay a state visit to the Lao PDR in June 2026 and invited President Thongloun to attend the 20th Francophonie Summit in November 2026.

During the visit, President Thongloun laid wreaths at the Independence Monument and the monument of King Father Norodom Sihanouk and attended an official luncheon hosted in his honour.
