(KPL) Houaphanh Province has agreed to deepen cooperation with Vietnam’s Thai Nguyen Province during a high-level visit on 21 November 2025.
Mr Phouthphan Keovongsay, Party Secretary and Vice Governor of Houaphanh, hosted Mr Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Party Secretary and Standing Vice Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee, for talks at the Houaphanh Provincial Administration Office.
Mr Keovongsay briefed the delegation on Houaphanh’s recent socio-economic developments, highlighting key potential in agriculture, industry, hydropower, handicrafts and tourism. He called on Thai Nguyen to expand support and collaboration across these areas, expressing hope that ties between Laos and Vietnam – and the two provinces in particular – would remain strong.
During the visit, both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation. The agreement outlines commitments to share information and experience in Party building, governance, and socio-economic and cultural development.
The two provinces also agreed to facilitate administrative procedures for businesses seeking investment opportunities, enhance student training programmes, and improve the exchange of reliable information.
