The National Assembly held a special ceremony on Monday afternoon to award the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Medal, celebrating five decades since the founding of the National Assembly (2 December 1975 – 2 December 2025). The event took place as part of the 10th Ordinary Session of the 9th Legislature at the National Assembly Hall in Vientiane.

The ceremony also included the presentation of the 5-Year Commemorative Medal and the 5-Year Achievement Medal (2021–2025) to honor the notable performance and dedication of National Assembly members over the past term.
The event began with Mr. Khamkong Lavaly, Head of the Commendations Department of the Central Party Organizational Committee, reading the Presidential Decree authorizing awards for members of the 9th Legislature.

Following this, Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly, conferred the First-Class Labour Medal on 18 departments and committees, including provincial People’s Assemblies and Constituency Standing Committees. He then presented the First-Class Labour Medal to 145 National Assembly members, among them 34 women, in recognition of their exemplary service.

During the ceremony, Vice President of the National Assembly Ms. Suanthone Xayachak awarded a medal to President Xaysomphone Phomvihane, who in turn presented medals to Ms. Sounthone Xayachak, Mr. Khambay Damlath, Mr. Sommad Pholsena, and Lieutenant General Souvone Leuangbounmy.
In addition, Second-Class Labour Medals were awarded to 20 members of the National Assembly, including two women. These honorees were praised for their distinguished commitment, contributions, and intellectual engagement in advancing legislative work over the 2021–2025 period—efforts that have significantly strengthened national development.
The ceremony highlighted the nation’s gratitude for the contributions of past and present legislators whose dedication has helped shape the progress of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic over the past five decades.
