KPL The official opening ceremony of the 6th National Young Pioneer Camp took place on 10 November 2025 in Vientiane under the theme “New Generation Young Pioneer: Caring for a Green Environment, Promoting Education Strategy, and Using Science and Technology in Modernization.”

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Thongsalith Mangnomek, Minister of Education and Sports, Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Mayor of Vientiane and Mr. Thongly Sisouly, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU), along with secretaries and deputy secretaries of youth union administrative committees from 17 provinces. Also present were youth representatives, adolescents, young pioneers from across the country, and other invited guests and stakeholders.

In his remarks, Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone said the Young Pioneer Camp serves as a reminder of the origins and importance of the Thanva Young Pioneer Organization—one of the Party’s mass organizations and the supreme body representing Lao children of all ethnic groups. He noted that the organization’s mission is to unite and guide young pioneers aged 9 to 14, with this year’s camp bringing together more than 2,000 participants nationwide.

He emphasized that the camp aims to train and nurture young pioneers to become a strong, disciplined, and responsible force for national development—successors who uphold and promote the fine traditions of the Lao people, contribute their intellect and labor to nation-building, and become exemplary children, students, and citizens.

Mr. Atsaphangthong added that through diverse educational and recreational activities, participants will exchange lessons and experiences to strengthen political and ideological awareness. The goal, he said, is to shape them into good children of their parents, good citizens of the nation, and worthy successors of the Party—contributing to the implementation of Vientiane’s 11th Economic Development Plan and the Resolutions of the 9th Congress of the LPRYU Central Committee, in line with the Party’s vision toward its 12th Congress.

Delivering a report at the event, Mr. Houmphaeng Sisombath, Secretary of the Vientiane Youth Union Administrative Committee, said the camp features a wide range of competitions and exchange activities.

Competition events include orchestral performances, painting contests, and presentations on topics such as drug prevention, environmental protection, road safety, and the responsible use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI). A parade was also organized, beginning at the President Kaysone Phomvihane Memorial Museum and proceeding along the main road to the National Stadium Camp at Kilometer 16.

Exchange activities include friendship-building exercises, group dancing, solo and group singing, sports competitions, and educational visits to national landmarks such as the President Kaysone Phomvihane Memorial, President Souphanouvong Memorial, That Luang, Patuxay, and the Saysettha Special Economic Zone.

During the camp, participants will also attend special talks delivered by senior leaders from Vientiane, the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, and the Ministry of Education and Sports. A highlight of the event will be a meeting and address by Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao PDR.
