KPL A high-level delegation of journalists from ASEAN member states and its three partner countries (China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea) concluded a productive visit to Guizhou Province this week. The visit followed their participation in the 2025 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road and the 11th ASEAN Plus Three (10+3) Media Cooperation Forum, held in Kunming, Yunnan Province.

The delegation, comprising media representatives from across the region, was led by Mr. Pei Guangjiang, Deputy Director of the International Department of the People's Daily. The trip aimed to provide international journalists with a firsthand look at Guizhou's unique development model, which harmonizes economic growth with ecological preservation and cultural heritage.

Traveling via China's extensive high-speed rail network from Kunming, the delegation arrived in Guizhou, a province renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, rich ethnic diversity, and rapidly modernizing economy. The itinerary was designed to highlight the region's inherent strengths, from its pristine river systems and traditional agricultural practices to its world-class industrial achievements.

A key focus of the visit was understanding how the Chinese Party and government have strategically supported and promoted Guizhou's latent potential. This includes initiatives to preserve local traditions while fostering innovation in sectors such as eco-tourism, big data, and advanced manufacturing.

The delegation's tour included a visit to the iconic Moutai Town, home to China's most famous distillery, Kweichow Moutai. Journalists gained insights into the production process of the renowned Moutai liquor, a symbol of Chinese craftsmanship that blends centuries-old techniques with modern industrial scale. The distillery stands as a prime example of how a unique local resource and cultural asset can be developed into a globally recognized brand, contributing significantly to the regional economy.

Mr. Pei Guangjiang emphasized the importance of such exchanges, stating, "This visit serves as a vital bridge for mutual understanding. By witnessing Guizhou's successful integration of ecological conservation and cultural vitality with economic progress, our ASEAN Plus Three colleagues can share these valuable stories with audiences back home, fostering greater regional cooperation."

The journalists expressed keen interest in Guizhou's development trajectory, particularly its balance between modernization and sustainability. The visit is expected to result in extensive media coverage across the ASEAN+3 region, shining a spotlight on Guizhou as a destination for investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.

The trip underscored the ongoing commitment under the ASEAN-China and ASEAN+3 frameworks to enhance people-to-people connectivity and media collaboration, building a shared future for the region.
