Japanese and Lao Doctors to Provide Free Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate Surgery for Lao Children

KPL Japanese and Lao medical teams will provide free cleft lip and cleft palate surgery for Lao children under a joint initiative between Setthathirath Hospital and Aichi University in Nagoya, Japan.


The programme will take place at Setthathirath Hospital in Vientiane from 24 to 28 August 2026, offering free surgical treatment to children born with cleft lips and cleft palates.
Parents and guardians of eligible children are encouraged to register in advance at the Dental Department of Setthathirath Hospital, where children will also be photographed to assist doctors in preparing surgical plans.
According to the schedule, medical examinations will be conducted on 24 August, while surgical procedures will be carried out from 25 to 28 August.
Registration is now open and will be available from Monday to Friday during official working hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Parents wishing to enrol their children are encouraged to contact the hospital as soon as possible.
The programme is being organised through the cooperation between Setthathirath Hospital and Aichi University to provide free specialised surgical care for Lao children with cleft lip and cleft palate.
