(KPL) On April 1, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Laos, received a courtesy call from Enna Esther Viant Valdés, Ambassador of the Cuba to the Lao PDR.
During the meeting, Ambassador Enna Esther Viant Valdés extended her sincere congratulations to Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane on his appointment by the 10th National Assembly as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In response, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the importance of the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Laos and Cuba.
Both sides highlighted the strength of bilateral relations, built on mutual trust, understanding, and consistent support in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. They noted that these ties are reflected through regular exchanges of high-level visits and close coordination in regional and international forums.
Ambassador Valdés also reaffirmed her commitment to serving as a bridge to further enhance cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead. She extended her best wishes to the Party and State leadership, as well as to the Lao people, on the occasion of the upcoming Lao New Year.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Laos and Cuba to further strengthening their traditional relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors.
