Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Mr. Kingmano Phommahaxay, received a courtesy visit last week from a regional delegation of UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office led by Mr. Myo-Zin Nyunt to discuss continued cooperation in education and child development in the Lao PDR.
(KPL) Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Mr. Kingmano Phommahaxay, received a courtesy visit last week from a regional delegation of UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office led by Mr. Myo-Zin Nyunt to discuss continued cooperation in education and child development in the Lao PDR.
The meeting reviewed outcomes of past collaboration and outlined priorities for future partnership. Discussions focused on strengthening basic education, enhancing teacher capacity, expanding inclusive learning opportunities for children in remote areas, and promoting the protection of child rights.
Participants also exchanged views on strategic directions for the upcoming UNICEF Country Programme 2027–2031 and emphasized alignment with the National Education Development Plan to ensure effective and equitable education outcomes nationwide.
Mr. Kingmano expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s continued support to the Lao education sector and voiced confidence that the partnership will deliver tangible benefits for children across Lao PDR.
