In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone emphasized that international and regional situations remain tense and unpredictable, marked by ongoing economic and trade conflicts, military issues, and border disputes. He noted that these developments must be closely monitored to formulate timely measures that mitigate potential impacts on the Lao PDR, which remains vulnerable to both direct and indirect consequences.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the severe natural disasters that struck the country recently—particularly the effects of Typhoon Bualoi, which caused heavy rains, flooding, and flash floods across 10 provinces, 34 districts, and 131 villages, resulting in 4 deaths and 4 missing persons, along with widespread damage to infrastructure and the environment. He urged all sectors to prioritize immediate recovery efforts, focusing on restoring livelihoods and supporting civil servants and citizens affected by these events.

Looking forward, Mr. Sonexay called for stronger preventive and preparedness measures, especially through close weather monitoring and effective hydropower dam water management. He encouraged government members to continue working collaboratively, conducting thorough analysis and providing practical, focused input to ensure the successful implementation of the government’s policies and plans, thereby meeting the objectives and goals set for the coming months.
