(KPL) On June 16, 2025, the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism held a key meeting to highlight progress and announce important organizational reforms. The meeting was chaired by Minister Ms. Suansavanh Viyaket and attended by senior officials, department heads, and civil servants from the information sector.

Deputy Minister Mr. Vansy Kuamua presented a detailed report on the Ministry’s recent successes. He said the Ministry has made strong progress in improving media infrastructure, advancing digital systems, and training personnel.

One major achievement is the expansion of the national information network using modern internet systems. This has helped improve communication, strengthen public trust, and unite Lao people across all ethnic groups — both inside and outside the country.

In culture, the Ministry has preserved and restored many important heritage sites. Some of these sites have been recognized by UNESCO, helping to build national pride and support socio-economic development.

In tourism, the Visit Laos Year 2024 campaign was a major success. With upgrades to tourist destinations and better services, tourism has become a key part of the country’s economy.

A major announcement at the meeting was the transfer of five media departments to the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Board. These include:

The Media Department

Lao News Agency

Lao National Television

Lao National Radio

Foreign Language Newspaper

This transfer was approved by the Party Secretariat and is aimed at strengthening leadership and coordination in national media work.

The Ministry also held a retirement ceremony to honor outstanding public servants who completed their service. Among the honorees were:

Mr. Phosy Keomanivong, Deputy Minister

Ms. Maniphan Luangsisong, Deputy Director-General of Planning and International Cooperation

Mr. Vorasak Pravongviengkham, Deputy Director-General of National Radio

Mr. Phoupasong Phutthavong, Deputy Director-General of Lao National Television

In her closing speech, Minister Suansavanh praised the contributions of the retirees and encouraged the five transitioning media organizations to stay committed to their mission. She emphasized unity, responsibility, and political dedication as keys to future success.

This meeting marked a new chapter in the modernization of Laos’ information, culture, and tourism sectors helping to build stronger foundations for the nation’s development.
