(KPL) The scenic Nong Thao Lake and Pa Xeuam Cave, renowned for their breathtaking natural beauty, are poised to become the latest eco-tourism destinations in Khammouane Province, Laos. Located in Na Khang Xang Village, just outside Thakhek Town, the sites are undergoing extensive development to cater to both local and international visitors.
The ongoing upgrades include the construction of parking facilities, restrooms, elevated pathways to prevent flooding, restaurants, service areas, and walking bridges within the cave. These improvements are part of a comprehensive plan to provide visitors with a seamless and enjoyable experience. The official opening is scheduled for April 2025.
According to Mr. Vongphet Chitpanya, Deputy Secretary of the Khammouane Provincial Party, the sites offer an abundance of natural resources, including diverse wildlife and aquatic species. "The area combines conservation with eco-tourism, allowing visitors to experience its natural beauty while preserving the environment," he noted.
The development, led by Phetmani KPC Sole Co., Ltd., spans a 9.89-hectare tourism zone, with an additional 404 hectares designated as a conservation area. The project, which has a $3 million USD investment entirely funded locally, includes a 50-year concession period aimed at ensuring sustainable development and environmental protection.
Key attractions and activities at Nong Thao Lake and Pa Xeuam Cave will include boating, forest trekking, and walking tours across bridges in the cave, complemented by a tourism information center and other visitor conveniences.
Once completed, the project is expected to become a major tourism hub in Khammouane Province, drawing visitors from across Laos and beyond. It promises to create numerous job opportunities for local residents, improve community livelihoods, and contribute significantly to the province’s socio-economic development.
Tourists are encouraged to visit and experience the serene natural landscapes, which offer a perfect retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation amidst Khammouane's untouched beauty.
