(KPL/Prensa Latina) Cuba will host the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)'s Global Youth Summit (GYS-25), in Varadero beach, in western Matanzas province, from March 11 to 13, 2025.
Organized by the ITU and Cuba’s Informatics and Communication Ministry (MINCOM), the event will feature an exhibition area where participants can explore innovative projects and discover opportunities to make a difference.
The Cuban News Agency (ACN) reported that the meeting will allow exchanges on issues such as digital empowerment of young people, reducing the digital skills gap, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies, among other current issues.
Cecilia Valdes, director of Institutional Communication at the MINCOM, informed that Cuba has a lot to offer in terms of the development of information and communication technologies (ICT), with young experts graduated from university, who will present innovative projects.
In statements to the ACN, the official praised the work that the youth computing clubs are developing with their community programs, and highlighted the strength of having two of its payment gateways, experiences that will be presented at the World Summit.
GYS-25 will share innovative solutions to improve infrastructure, use transformative technologies such as artificial intelligence to expand connectivity and digital ecosystems, increase access to digital literacy programs, and create inclusive, secure and sustainable digital environments.
