KPL (KPL) Bokeo Governor Thongchan Manisay welcomed Thai Ambassador to Laos, Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, and her delegation on August 5, 2024.

(KPL) Bokeo Governor Thongchan Manisay welcomed Thai Ambassador to Laos, Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, and her delegation on August 5, 2024.

Bokeo Province has maintained a strong partnership with Thailand in combating drug trafficking, cross-border crimes, and human trafficking. Collaborative efforts have also been made in public health, agriculture, labour, culture, and wildfire prevention.

Governor Manisay expressed interest in attracting more Thai investment to Bokeo Province, particularly in agriculture and tourism. He also emphasized the need for human resource development in these sectors.

Both officials acknowledged the ongoing cooperation to recover a Buddha statue which has been stolen from Tonpheung District.

In reply, the Thai Ambassador expressed gratitude for Lao authorities' assistance in repatriating deceived Thai citizens in the northern province of Laos.

She also briefed the host about the joint commitment of the Lao and Thai governments to address transnational challenges such as human trafficking and drug trafficking.
