(KPL) On August 5, 2024, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his delegation traveled on the Laos-China Railway from Vientiane to Luang Prabang Province for an official visit.

They were warmly welcomed by Governor Khamkhanh Chanthavisouk of Luang Prabang Province, along with provincial, district, and related officials.

During the visit, the Prime Minister visited and held discussions with residents of Buam Or village in Xieng Ngeun District.

He listened to a report on the village's development from Mr. Somphong Somphorntha, chief of Buam Or Village. This village has been affected by the Laos-China Railway project, resulting in the relocation to a new settlement provided by the Laos-China Railway Company, which included infrastructure such as asphalt roads, houses, a village hall, a school, a health center, water supply, electricity, and other facilities.

The living conditions of the villagers have improved significantly.

Currently, the village has 106 households with a population of 488, including 248 women.

The Prime Minister held further discussions with the residents, inquiring about their living conditions, development needs, challenges, and the impacts of local and international issues on their economic and social development.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuous technical and vocational assistance to the villagers, including agricultural and livestock farming, vocational training, land allocation, sustainable occupation, and village management improvements.

He also urged the villagers and local authorities to maintain a clean and orderly environment, plant decorative and fruit trees, and establish measures to prevent riverbank erosion.

The Prime Minister and his delegation also inspected the village's infrastructure and donated a sum of money to support development efforts in the village.
