(KPL) The embassy of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea hosted in Vientiane a reception to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Lao PDR and DPRK.
The celebration witnessed the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith, Korean ambassador to Laos Lee Yong Son and relevant officials of both sides.
The Lao PDR and DPRK established diplomatic relations on Jun 24, 1974 under the guidance of President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Kim Il Sung.
Delivering remarks at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith noted that throughout the last 5 decades, under the guidance of the leaders of both countries, the friendly relations of unity and good cooperation between the two Parties, the two states and the peoples of Laos and DPRK have been enhanced until now.
Mr Saleumxay Kommasith also expressed his hope that the two countries will continue to maintain cooperation mechanisms to promote the bilateral cooperation and mutual assistance under bilateral and multilateral frameworks to bring benefits to the people of the two countries as well as to maintain peace and cooperation for development in the region and the world.
Korean ambassador to Laos Lee Yong Son
Ambassador Lee Yong Son expressed his gratitude to the Party, state and people of Laos for their support and assistance for the struggle of the Korean people in the past and in the present times, as well as for DPRK’s mission of building a prosperous and strong socialist nation.
“Over the past years, our bilateral relations have been constantly strengthened and I believe that the cooperation will continue to be strengthened and developed constantly with the joint efforts of the two countries,” said the Korean ambassador.
