KPL (KPL) The 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly's (NA) 9th Legislature was officially opened on Jun 10 to discuss many issues of national importance.

(KPL) The 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly's (NA) 9th Legislature was officially opened on Jun 10 to discuss many issues of national importance.

The opening session of the meeting saw the presence of NA President Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and people’s representatives from across the country.

The NA members will hear the Prime Minister's report on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan, the state budget plan and monetary plan as well as the two national agendas on addressing economic and financial difficulties, and drug issues in the first six months of 2024.

Ministers of Planning and Investment, Finance, and Governor of the Bank of Laos will brief the meeting on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan and state budget plan,  and monetary plan in the first 6 months of 2024 and targets set for the last six months.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also briefed the participants on the adjustment of the socio-economic development plan, state budget plan, and the monetary plan.

The State Audit Organization will report on the implementation of rural development targets and poverty alleviation over the past months and directions the second half of the year.

Eleven newly drafted laws and draft amendments to promulgated laws will be discussed and approved at the session. These include two new draft laws on medicinal resources and cooepratives and nine draft amendments to laws on investment, national assembly, value added tax, anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism, environment protection, Anti-Corruption, tourism, fire prevention and combating, and prevention of HIV/AIDS, proivncial people’s councils, and the election of members of the National Assembly and provincial people’s council.
