(KPL/Prensa Latina) The total number of tourists presence reached 445.3 million in Italy during 2023, which represents a significant increase, 8,1%, in relation to the results achieved last year, an analysis indicates.

According to a report presented by the Center for Tourism Studies of Florence, one of the determining factors in this growth was the 13,7% increase in visitors arriving from abroad, which totaled 228.5 million.

For the first time, the 2023 data are higher than those of the pre-pandemic period, since in 2019 the presence of tourists was 436.7 million, approximately 8.6 million less than this year, analysts specify.

In absolute terms, the analysis forecasts that more than 226 million tourists will choose Italy as a vacation destination this year and will generate more than 809 million overnight stays, data that also includes domestic tourism, which will contribute significantly to the recovery of the sector.
