(KPL) India hosted the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit (VOGSS) on Nov 17, in virtual format. The 2nd VOGSS focused on sharing with countries of the Global South the key outcomes achieved in various G20 meetings over the course of India’s Presidency. The challenges posed by global developments were also discussed.

(KPL) India hosted the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit (VOGSS) on Nov 17, in virtual format.
The 2nd VOGSS focused on sharing with countries of the Global South the key outcomes achieved in various G20 meetings over the course of India’s Presidency. The challenges posed by global developments were also discussed.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleuxay Kommasith participated in Foreign Ministers’ Session on the theme of "India & the Global South: Emerging Together for a Better Future” hosted by External Affairs Minister of India S. Jaishankar.
Mr. Saleuxay Kommasith outlined key priorities for the Global South, as also of the Lao PDR as next ASEAN Chair for 2024. During the session, important discussions were held on furthering South-South cooperation and consolidating the gains from India’s G20 presidency for the Global South.
Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong participated in Education Ministers’ Session on the theme of "Making Human Resources Future Ready” hosted by Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan.

Mr. Phout Simmalavong highlighted the focus areas for the Lao PDR in the field of education and its human resources development strategy. The session focussed on developing human capital through education and skill development, knowledge sharing for future ready workforce and the need to bridge the skill divide in the Global South.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Inaugural Leaders’ Session of the Summit on the theme of “Together, for Everyone’s Growth, with Everyone’s Trust”. He highlighted India’s efforts in galvanising concrete G20 actions for Global South during India’s G20 presidency. Prime Minister Modi called for 5Cs - consultation, cooperation, communication, creativity & capacity building within Global South to realise the vision of One Earth One Family One Future and also virtually inaugurated Development and Knowledge Sharing Initiative (DAKSHIN) - Global South Centre of Excellence.
DAKSHIN Centre will undertake research on developmental challenges being faced by Global South and finding practical solutions to these challenges.
