Laos eyes 1.4 million visitors this year

KPL (KPL) Laos has set an ambitious plan to welcome 1.4 million domestic and foreign visitors this year with revenue from the tourism sector expected to reach more than 340 million U.S. dollars, according to the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

(KPL)  Laos has set an ambitious plan to welcome 1.4 million domestic and foreign visitors this year with revenue from the tourism sector expected to reach more than 340 million U.S. dollars, according to the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The ministry has said that it will make efforts to have domestic visitors numbering 1.2 million.

“The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism will coordinate with central and local authorities on planning tourism development, survey and zone at least five new tourism areas, and have at least three tourism cities meeting ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standards,” Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Vansy Kuamua told an annual meeting of the Information, Culture and Tourism sector in Vientiane on Jan 23.

Laos recorded over 1.6 million domestic and foreign tourists last year.
