KPL Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith has instructed the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to strengthen its advisory and coordination functions, ensuring its officials have a thorough understanding of Party directives, government policies, laws and regulations, and current conditions ahead of other state agencies.

He issued the instructions during a meeting with Party leaders, managers and senior officials of the PMO in Vientiane on October 14, 2026.

The Prime Minister stressed that the office plays a key role in supporting the Government, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers through policy advice, administrative services and coordination among government agencies.

He called on Party committees at all levels within the office to strengthen political and ideological work, maintain close contact with staff and promote dedication and discipline in support of national defence and development.

Saleumxay also urged the office to streamline administrative procedures and document circulation, improve official communication and accelerate digitalisation to make its operations more efficient.

He emphasised the need to carefully review policy proposals and draft government decisions to ensure they align with leadership directives and establish effective mechanisms to monitor implementation.

The Prime Minister further instructed officials to conduct thorough technical assessments of proposals before they are submitted to Government cabinet meetings or executive meetings involving the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers, helping improve decision-making and reduce meeting time.

On security, he called for strict protection of confidential documents and official instructions, as well as improvements to security systems at PMO facilities.

He also stressed the need to modernise public relations and media infrastructure to ensure the timely dissemination of accurate information and strengthen public communication about government policies and activities.

During the meeting, the Minister and Head of the Prime Minister’s Office presented a report on the office’s organisational structure, personnel, achievements, operational challenges and future priorities. The Prime Minister subsequently held discussions with participants to identify practical measures to improve the office’s performance.

The directives aim to strengthen the PMO’s capacity to support government decision-making, improve administrative coordination and ensure the effective implementation of national policies.
