(KPL) Vice President Viengthong Siphandone, Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, visited Xaysomboun Province and met with key provincial officials on August 19, 2026, to review development progress and provide guidance for the remaining months of the year.
Provincial Party Secretary and People's Council President Phoykham Houngbounyuang reported that Xaysomboun has focused on socio-economic development, infrastructure, investment management, agriculture, education, healthcare and rural development. The province currently has 180 investment projects, including 39 managed at the central level and 141 at the provincial level.
The province has also strengthened transport infrastructure, promoted commercial production, supported cultural preservation and tourism, and expanded cooperation with strategic partners, particularly Vietnam and China, to attract investment and development assistance.
Vice President Viengthong praised the province's achievements and called for stronger political and ideological education, Party unity, national defence and public security, and grassroots political work.
She also urged authorities to strengthen inspection and supervision, prevent illegal logging and forest destruction, promote comprehensive rural development and poverty reduction, and encourage people to adopt a more self-reliant and productive way of life, with greater emphasis on commercial production.
