(KPL/Prensa Latina) The World Health Organization (WHO) today launched the Global Clinical Trials Forum (GCTF), a multi-stakeholder global network to strengthen clinical trial environments and infrastructure at all scales.

This forum provides a collaborative platform for members to disseminate WHO guidance and best practices, engage and advocate with stakeholders to promote the adoption of standards and knowledge sharing to strengthen capacity and promote inclusive, ethical and impactful clinical trials.

According to scientific literature, a clinical trial is a controlled experiment in human volunteers used to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of treatments or interventions against diseases and health problems of any kind; as well as to determine pharmacological, pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics effects of new products.

The WHO website reports that this global forum launched today represents an important step in ensuring that all countries have the capacity to generate reliable evidence to guide health policies and practices.

The GCTF connects various stakeholders, including Member States, regulators, ethical authorities, funders, researchers, civil society participation organizations of patient and community.
