(KPL) On September 3, 2025, Minister of Education and Sports Thongsalith Mangnomek welcomed a courtesy call from Thai Ambassador to the Lao PDR Morakot Srisawasdi.

The Ambassador's visit was to congratulate him on his new appointment and to bid farewell as her diplomatic mission in the Lao PDR concludes.

Mr. Thongsalith Mangnomek expressed his warm welcome, congratulations, and high appreciation for Ms. Morakot Srisawasdi and her delegation.

He stated that the visit and well-wishes on his new position are a vital contribution to strengthening the cooperation between Laos and Thailand, especially in education and sports. He expressed his hope that this relationship will continue to develop and that the two countries will continue to support and assist each other.

The Minister also thanked the Thai government and its people for their educational support for the Lao PDR. He noted that in 2025, the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports successfully sent 27 Lao students on scholarships to study in Thailand. Currently, nearly 700 Lao students, including 332 females, are studying at Thai educational institutions.

These students are supported by various scholarships, including those from the Thai government (TICA), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, exchange programmes, and personal funds. The Minister took the opportunity to wish the Ambassador a safe journey home and success in her new duties, and he requested that she continue to serve as a bridge for the lasting friendship between Laos and Thailand.

The Thai ambassador expressed her gratitude to the host for the warm welcome. She also affirmed that she will continue to be a bridge for supporting education in the Lao PDR in the future.

The purpose of the visit was to extend congratulations to Mr. Thongsalith on his recent appointment as Minister of Education and Sports.
