Minister of Education and Sports Receives Courtesy Visit from Korean Ambassador and UN Resident Coordinator

KPL Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR, Mr. Thongsalith Mangnormek, received a courtesy visit from H.E. Mr. Jung Yung Soo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, and Mr. Bakhodir Burkhanov, United Nations Resident Coordinator to Laos. The visit marked the occasion of Mr. Thongsalith's recent appointment as Minister, on July 29, 2025.

(KPL) Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR, Mr. Thongsalith Mangnormek, received a courtesy visit from H.E. Mr. Jung Yung Soo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, and Mr. Bakhodir Burkhanov, United Nations Resident Coordinator to Laos. The visit marked the occasion of Mr. Thongsalith's recent appointment as Minister, on July 29, 2025.

During the meeting, Minister Thongsalith Mangnormek extended a warm welcome and expressed his deep appreciation to the Ambassador and the UN Resident Coordinator for their congratulatory visit. He also acknowledged the important roles both dignitaries play in promoting and strengthening cooperation—particularly in the fields of education and sports—between Laos, the Republic of Korea, and the United Nations.

The Minister highlighted the ongoing efforts and achievements in the Lao education and sports sectors, including improvements to the education system, measures to address challenges, and opportunities for further development. He affirmed the government's commitment to reforming and advancing these areas for the benefit of the nation.

Mr. Thongsalith also conveyed his gratitude for the consistent support provided by the Republic of Korea and the United Nations, which has significantly contributed to the gradual progress of education and sports in the Lao PDR.

In response, Ambassador Jung Yung Soo and Mr. Bakhodir Burkhanov thanked the Minister for the warm reception and offered their congratulations on his new role. Both reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their support and collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports, pledging to remain strong partners in the country’s development journey—especially in education and youth empowerment.
