(KPL) A two-day meeting to review the draft amendment of the Law on Public Prosecutors was held on May 16–17, 2025, under the chairmanship of Mr. Khamphaeng Vilaphan, President of the Law Committee of the National Assembly.

The session brought together vice chairpersons of relevant National Assembly committees, deputy ministers, representatives of key ministries and institutions, legal advisors, department heads, and officials from related sectors.

Chairman Khamphaeng highlighted that the meeting aimed to conduct an in-depth review and analysis of the draft law to ensure its readiness for submission to the 9th Ordinary Session of the 9th Legislature of the National Assembly. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the law is comprehensive, coherent, and practically applicable. Any points of contention or unresolved issues would be forwarded to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly for further consideration.

Also speaking at the meeting, Ms. Phonphet Ounkham, Deputy Head of the People's Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, underscored the need to centralize and unify the management of public prosecutors across the country. She emphasized the importance of establishing clear standards and mechanisms for recruitment, examination, performance assessment, promotion, demotion, transfers, as well as disciplinary measures, ethics, and protection of rights and duties.

She added that the law must ensure the professional development of prosecutors in all dimensions—including political theory, legal expertise, foreign languages, and other relevant skills—so they can effectively fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the law and contribute to the nation’s legal and governance systems.
