KPL The 2nd Extraordinary Session of the 9th National Assembly opened on March 17 to discuss key national issues.


(KPL) The 2nd Extraordinary Session of the 9th National Assembly opened on March 17 to discuss key national issues.

The opening session was attended by National Assembly (NA) President Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, and representatives from across the country.

Running until March 20, the session will focus on several critical matters, including a report on the improvement of public governance for 2025, amendments to two major legal codes—the Local Governance Law and the Civil Servant Law—and a government report on national administrative work.

Additionally, the session will review an investigative report on special policies for investors in the industrial sector.

NA members will consider five key agenda items approval of the 2025 Public Governance Improvement Report  amendments to the Local Governance and Civil Servant Laws, Review of the government's national administrative work, Consideration of the investigation report on special investment policies in the industrial sector and Discussion and adoption of the amended 2025 Constitution, as presented by NA Vice President Chaleun Yiapaoher.


The session aims to address urgent national issues with a focus on quality, effectiveness, and tangible results.

As the chairman of the meeting, NA President Xaysomphone Phomvihane urged all relevant parties to work together as advisors, coordinate effectively, and provide the necessary support and information for discussions. He encouraged NA members to exercise their democratic rights, enhance creativity, and demonstrate political responsibility by thoroughly analyzing agenda items and contributing constructive, visionary, and realistic solutions.
