Laos, R. Korea Mark 25th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

KPL (KPL) Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Lao PDR Shin Sung Soon held a reception party in Vientiane on Oct 23 to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and the Republic of Korea.

(KPL) Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Lao PDR Shin Sung Soon held a reception party in Vientiane on Oct 23 to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and the Republic of Korea.

The reception party was held in the presence of high-ranking officials of both countries.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Shin spoke highly of the growing cooperation between the two countries with the Republic of Korea recognized as Laos’ second largest donor since 2015.

The Korean ambassador noted that the friendship between the two countries had led to an increasing number of visit exchanges.

“With caring minds for each other and the accumulated achievements of high-level exchanges, I believe our relationship has no limit,” said the ambassador.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith highly valued the cooperation and assistance of Korea over the past 25th years. Korea has contributed significantly to the social-economic development in Laos, especially on rural development (Saemaul Undong), embankment protection and unexploded ordnance clearance as well as Covid-19 prevention and control.

Both sides also expressed their commitment to continue to work together in the years to come to promote and deepen the good relations of friendship and cooperation.

They also highly valued the bilateral cooperation on politics, economy, trade and investment, human resource development, infrastructure development, health and tourism.

The Lao PDR and the Republic of Korea established diplomatic ties on October 25, 1995.
