(KPL) Lao Ambassador Mr. Thipphasone Sengsouriya formally presented his Letters of Credence to Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, during a ceremony held on February 27, 2026, at Malacañang Palace in Manila.

The Letters of Credence were conveyed on behalf of Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, officially marking the beginning of Mr. Thipphasone’s tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to the Philippines.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Thipphasone delivered warm greetings and best wishes from the Lao President to President Marcos Jr., as well as to the government and people of the Philippines. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Philippine authorities to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Priority areas of his mission include expanding trade and investment opportunities, enhancing cooperation in tourism, culture and education, and promoting greater people-to-people exchanges.

President Marcos Jr. warmly welcomed the new Ambassador and expressed confidence that he would contribute significantly to advancing bilateral relations, particularly by identifying new economic potentials to boost trade, investment and tourism.

The ceremony was conducted with high honors in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.

The Lao PDR and the Philippines established diplomatic relations on January 14, 1955, and in 2025 commemorated the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
