The 13th Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) concluded on January 5, 2026, under the chairmanship of Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. All members of the 11th Party Central Committee attended the session.

(KPL) The 13th Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) concluded on January 5, 2026, under the chairmanship of Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. All members of the 11th Party Central Committee attended the session.
The meeting, regarded as the final plenary session of the 11th Party Central Committee, focused on reviewing reports, deliberating key issues, and providing guidance to finalize preparations for the upcoming 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. The Congress is scheduled to take place from January 6–8, 2026, at the National Convention Center in Vientiane Capital.
The Central Committee unanimously assessed that, through diligent, systematic, and continuous efforts by relevant committees, all preparations for the 12th National Party Congress have been fully completed. The Congress will be convened under the theme: “Enhancing the Party’s Strong Leadership, Proactively Building an Independent and Self-Reliant Economy, and Continuing to Consolidate the People’s Democratic System for Progress Towards Socialism.”
A total of 834 delegates, representing 421,865 Party members nationwide, will participate in the Congress. The event holds historic significance, marking an important milestone in advancing the Party’s comprehensive renovation policy with principle, and fostering strong, in-depth, and comprehensive transformations under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The 12th National Party Congress is expected to review practical experiences, determine key political orientations, and further strengthen the Party’s leadership role in building and consolidating the people’s democratic system towards socialism.
On this occasion, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith expressed high appreciation for the systematic and thorough preparatory work carried out to date. He noted that the extensive and dynamic preparatory process, involving the united strength of the entire people, clearly reflects the successful and comprehensive implementation of the resolutions of the 11th National Party Congress. These achievements, he emphasized, provide a solid foundation for the successful convening of the 12th National Congress as planned.
