Lao and Vietnamese Foreign Ministers Discuss Enhancing Cooperation

(KPL) On the occasion of attending the 10th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting in China, on August 14, 2025, Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son of Vietnam.

At the meeting, the two sides expressed their joy at meeting again on every suitable occasion. The two sides discussed and exchanged views with each other frankly and in a spirit of close friendship to enhance and consolidate the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, peoples, and the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Laos and Vietnam to flourish and develop to a greater depth.

Both sides agreed and highly appreciated the cooperation between the two countries and between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, which has been continuously enhanced and achieved tangible results over the past years. 

They also agreed to work closely together to implement the agreements reached by the senior leaders of the two Parties and States, aiming to deliver the greatest benefits to the peoples of Laos and Vietnam, particularly in preparing for high-level visits and joint celebrations of important anniversaries in 2025.

In addition, the two sides agreed to encourage relevant ministries and sectors to implement cooperation mechanisms and priority policies, promote bilateral trade, and advance economic integration, particularly in transportation, infrastructure, and the effective implementation of key cooperation projects. They also discussed and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
