(KPL) From July 5–6, 2025, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Vice President of the Lao PDR, led a delegation on a guidance visit to Khammouane Province.

During the visit, Mr. Vanxay Phongsavan, Governor of Khammouane Province, delivered a briefing on the province’s progress over the first half of this year. He highlighted a number of significant achievements across several key areas, including socio-economic development, and the successful organization of Party meetings at various levels.

On this occasion, Vice President Bounthong Chitmany commended the provincial Party Committee and leadership for their efforts and achievements in driving comprehensive development. He emphasized the importance of continuing this momentum while addressing key challenges. These include maintaining national defense and security, safeguarding the border, reducing social unrest, and tackling issues such as drug abuse. 

Regarding socio-economic development, the Vice President urged the province to expedite the implementation of both public and private sector projects, ensuring they are competitive, timely, and of high quality to attract further investment and generate increased revenue for the national budget. He also encouraged a review of small and medium-sized enterprises to identify and promote high-performing businesses.

He stressed the importance of timely agricultural production during the rainy season, flood control, animal disease prevention, poverty reduction, and addressing school dropout rates as top priorities. He also called for thorough preparation for the celebration of the 50 th anniversary of the Lao PDR and the 104th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane.

Lastly, Vice President Bounthong encouraged Party organizations at the grassroots and district levels that have completed their meetings to effectively implement the resolutions.
