(KPL) On February 23, President Thongloun Sisoulith sent a congratulatory message to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of His Majesty's birth day and Japan's National Day.
The message stated: "On behalf of the Lao people and in my own name, I am honored to extend warm congratulations and best wishes to Your Majesty and the friendly people of Japan on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Your Majesty's birthday and Japan's National Day.
I am delighted to see that the long-standing friendship and excellent cooperation between the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Japan have been continuously strengthened and deepened over the years.
Notably, in 2025, our two countries are jointly celebrating in vibrant and meaningful atmosphere the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of Japanese volunteers working in the Lao PDR.
On this significant occasion, both sides have elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is a new milestone and a solid foundation for further enhancing Lao-Japanese cooperation. This will bring increasing benefits to the peoples of both nations, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
I would like to take this auspicious opportunity to wish Your Majesty, the Empress, and the entire Imperial family good health, happiness and longevity. May the people of Japan continue to enjoy happiness and prosperity under Your Majesty's benevolent care.
On the same day, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru of Japan. Additionally, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs, extended congratulations to his Japanese counterpart Mr. Takeshi Iwaya, on this occasion.
